***NEW BOOKING PROCESS UPDATE***
As of April 1st 2024 there will no longer be monthly release days. We are working hard to continue to provide affordable surgeries in a timely manner to as much of our community as we can. Appointments will now be added on a weekly basis below and will be offered no further than two weeks in advance. There will not be a specific day and time appointments are updated. We suggest to check regularly.
We appreciate your patience as we continue to have limited surgery spaces in comparison to the enormous demand for our program.
*If the calendar below states no appointments available, that means we are currently full for the next 2 weeks only. However, keep checking back to your preferred category as the calendar is now updated weekly.
PAYMENT
Payment is required to book this appointment. We accept all credit cards and credit/debit cards. Your credit card information will initially reserve the appointment until your application is reviewed. Once your application is approved, your card will be charged the FULL amount of surgery shown below, plus any extra services you choose. A receipt will then be sent to you. Charges are usually made the same day of booking excluding weekends. Any declined transactions will result in the automatic cancellation of your appointment. Applications that are not approved will be cancelled and no charges will be made to your card.
At this time, appointments are NOT held as you are booking them. This means they are not confirmed or guaranteed until you have received your confirmation email.
All prices include e-collar, nail trim, and two days of pain medication. Be sure to check out the options to add on vaccines/microchip located directly above the calendar!
We do not perform surgery on female dogs in heat. If your dog is in heat, they must wait 5 weeks past the last day of heat. Having surgery in this time frame poses a higher risk for your pet so please schedule accordingly.
Lactating/Nursing cats and dogs must wait at least 10 weeks past the day of birth. Having surgery in this time frame poses a higher risk for your pet so please schedule accordingly.
Vaccines and parasite prevention are VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to be completed no later than 2 weeks before surgery day however we do not require vaccines or parasite prevention to perform surgery.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to booking@hsgn.ca or 905-688-2198.

*Over the last several years, research has shown when

can increase the risk of certain cancers and other injury/illnesses including

rupture, uneven bone growth and joint disease. Our veterinary surgeons recommend waiting
until these dogs are fully grown before being spayed or neutered. This age may range
from 1 year to 2 years depending on the breed, sex, and weight of your dog.
We will continue to provide spay and neuter to large/x-large breed dogs starting at 6 months old. All dogs in this category scheduled under the recommended age will be required to sign a health risk waiver on the morning of surgery.

Terms and Conditions
Performing safe and quality surgery for your pet is our number one priority. Spaying and neutering is an elective surgery therefore, the HSGNAC has the right to refuse surgery to any animal who does not fit the physical parameters outlined in this application which includes but is not limited to overweight/underweight pets, female dogs in heat, age, any illness. any injury, etc. Please contact us if your pet develops any medical concerns prior to surgery day.
If your pet is declined on surgery day, for any reason, there will be a fee.
Any information provided on this application that does not meet the criteria outlined may cause your pet to be disqualified from our program. This may result in the automatic cancellation of your appointment.
If the weight of your dog is found to be different than the weight class chosen on this application, it may result in the cancellation of your surgery. If you choose a weight class smaller than your dog, and all other conditions are met, all moneys owed for the difference in weight will be paid prior to receiving surgery. If you choose a weight class that is higher than your dog, and all conditions are met, we will accept the booking as is. The difference will not be refunded to you.
Vaccines and parasite prevention are VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to be completed no later than 2 weeks before surgery day however we do not require vaccines or parasite prevention to perform surgery. Vaccines administered within 2 weeks of surgery will result in your pet being declined. Vaccines and parasite prevention can be obtained at your regular veterinary clinic. This is a high volume clinic and shelter environment therefore risk of contracting a contagious disease or parasite from another animal is higher. If you added vaccines on to your surgery, it may take up 4 weeks for your pet to be protected. Any boosters that may be required must be scheduled with your regular veterinary clinic.
Umbilical hernias are repaired at the discretion of the surgeon. If repaired, there will be a charge of $75.
Pregnancies are terminated at the time of spay. If the pet is in a second or third trimester at the time of spay, there will be a $75 charge.
We do not perform surgery on abdominal cryptorchids and/or double cryptorchids. Please talk to your primary veterinarian to determine if your male pet has both testicles descended. If your pet is a cryptorchid please note it in your health questionnaire and a team member will call you. Single inguinal cryptorchid surgery may be performed with a pre op exam ($25) by our surgeon. If single inguinal cryptorchid surgery is performed by us there will be an additional charge of $100 for a dog and $50 for a cat.
Blood work is not included in the cost of our surgeries. However, it is always recommended for your pet to have blood work done prior to any anesthetic procedure as anesthesia comes with risk and blood work can help to lower that risk by checking for any unknown/underlying medical conditions. Pets under the age of 5 years old that have no health concerns are considered to be low risk under anesthesia therefore blood work is not mandatory to receive surgery through our program. We offer blood work appointments for a fee and must be scheduled prior to surgery day no longer than one week before surgery. Please call us if you would like to book a bloodwork appointment. You may also have blood work done at your regular veterinary clinic no more than one week before surgery and have them send us the results.
If your pet is over 5 years old and under 6 years old, blood work is mandatory. Appointments booked here for pets in this age group will receive a phone call to schedule an appointment for blood work.
It is to be understood that even if blood work is performed, it does not guarantee that your pet will not have an anesthetic/surgical/vaccine complication or reaction. Inadequate blood work results may result in the cancellation of your surgery and refusal to our program.
Brachycephalic Dog Breeds (Boston terrier/Pug/Boxer/Bulldogs/Pekingese etc)
It is to be understood that these flat faced breeds are at higher risk for surgery and therefore have a higher risk of being declined on surgery day due to breathing ability/issues. The declined fee will apply. We do not accept Pugs, Boston terriers or Bulldogs under any circumstances. If booked, your appointment will be automatically cancelled. American Bulldog may be accepted with a pre-op exam.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Due to high demand, all appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled with minimum 48 business hours notice.
Appointments cancelled within 48 business hours and no shows will result in a cancellation fee.
A processing fee will apply to all refund requests.
